Politicians and the mainstream media have constantly inculcated people with the notion that they live in a “democracy”. However, if you carefully read the Declaration of Independence (”The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America”, In CONGRESS, July 4, 1776) and the Constitution for these united States of America, you may be surprised to find that the word “democracy” does not appear even once in either of these two founding documents. This is because the framers of the Constitution did not want to create a “democracy”. On the contrary, they wanted to create a “Republic”.
