Nancy Pelosi is demanding that President Bush release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Gotta do something about those bottom-of-the-barrel congressional approval numbers. Via The Hill:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is calling on President Bush to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to bring down prices.
Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced to Democratic leaders Tuesday night that she has written a letter to President Bush, urging him to release a “small” amount of oil from the government stockpile to increase supply and decrease prices, a leadership aide said.
In the letter, Pelosi said the price of a barrel of oil has risen nearly five-fold during Bush’s tenure and called the effects “devastating.”
“These are the kind of circumstances, in addition to national security, in which utilization of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is more than justified,” Pelosi wrote in the letter, dated Tuesday.
The reserve comprises a series of Gulf Coast salt caverns that house the largest emergency oil stockpile in the world. It currently holds 706 million barrels, about 97 percent of the reserve’s 727 million barrel capacity. That’s the most the reserve has ever held and would replace foreign supplies for about 58 days.
It is not clear what impact a release would have on current prices. The U.S. uses about 20 million barrels of oil a day.

I agree that more supply is necessary, and so do my House Republican colleagues who have been arguing for decades in favor of more American energy production. The fact is, the American people expect and deserve far more than what Speaker Pelosi is proposing. House Republicans stand ready to work across the aisle on a real solution to our energy crisis: an ‘all of the above’ plan that increases production of American energy, encourages conservation, and promotes alternative fuels.

Pelosi, Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats in both houses of Congress scare me. They should scare you too. Think about it. You know how dangerous the world is today. Iran may soon have nuclear weapon technology and yesterday they successfully tested a long range missal capable of reaching Israel and several American bases where they could fry up to 100,000 of our sons and daughters. Do you think they would even bat an eyelash to give a nuke or three to Mufsiduns?
If a hot war breaks out in the Middle East again, how will that affect fuel availability for the U.S. and our army that protects us? This is what the Petroleum Reserve is for, not for increasing supply to lower costs. This is a vital insurance policy for our country and, in deed, FREEDOM. What kind of total imbecile would even think about squandering this vital insurance policy, which just may be needed to protect us Americans?
So what do we have to lower the insane price of gasoline and all energy so that we can afford to live? We have billions of barrels of oil and massive volumes of coal and gas resources just waiting to be tapped. You see, right now, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Harry Reid (D-CA), Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI), Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI), Congressman Steve Kagen (D-WI) and their ilk have made the exploration, drilling, harvesting and, in some cases, use of these life giving / freedom maintaining energy resources illegal, too expensive, or will not allow permits to harvest them. In my personal opinion these people are criminal for making it too expensive to be able to afford to live, to drive to work and/or causing businesses to close because people need all of their incomes just to pay for heat, light, electricity and food just to survive and, there by, causing the loss of jobs. And what make me sick is that these sycophants are happy about it. It seems self evident and rather obvious that they are purposely causing the demise of our Freedom and perhaps even our lives.
It is up to us, folks, We The People, to rise up and demand that Congress change to support our best interests not environmental wackos, the power hungry usurping our power as a FREE people who have power over our government, or the forty private owners of THE FEDERAL RESERVE who are controlling “literally” everything. We the people must reach deep down inside and pull out the intestinal fortitude and courage that created our FREEDOM (from Government) during the Revolutionary War. People, I believe we must honestly and truly rise up in the streets in the face of these hoodlums and show them who they work for. We must recover our status as the masters of our ‘servant’ government, for without our courage and determination we will most certainly lose our FREEDOM (from Government) which is the very reason why Congress is doing this to us and why they have created several constitutionally contemptuous laws.
We must LITTERALLY make our stand (IN THE STREETS), as a FREE people and we must do it soon. Our fellow Americans are just looking for leaders. If you feel you are a leader, than make your plans and facilitate a rally in your town or community, to support our FREEDOM and our power OVER government and Congress as is our right as bestowed by our creator, who created natural energy resources for us to use. If nothing else just stand on a stump and start a speech in support of Americans and against the U.S. Congress. In my opinion, they have left me with no other choice but to assume that they are trying to either take away our FREEDOM (from Government) and/or trying to kill us off financially by making it too expensive to live or causing companies to close for lack of customers with money to spend.
THIS IS IT FOLKS, IT’S DO OR DIE or ‘WALK’ to a major city where the Government can herd us into Government apartment units and feed us under the TV camera of BIG BROTHER who says that they are “Doing it for our own good.” It is time to tell them where to go, the apartment units of hell. Perhaps, if we are kind, we’ll let them use a bicycle so they don’t have to walk.
