| Dear Karl:
While we are working hard to help stop damaging policies like the Waxman-Markey climate legislation from being enacted, we also need to push hard to encourage positive solutions, such as increased domestic energy exploration and production. The federal Minerals Management Service (MMS) is now considering a new five-year leasing program that will greatly expand our nation’s access to the resource-rich Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). It is vital that the MMS hear strong support for moving forward with its plan to open 31 areas for oil and natural gas exploration. This plan will create thousands of new jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign fuel, and make our nation more energy secure.
The deadline to submit comments to MMS is September 21, so please communicate your support today. Click here to take action now!
When you write Congress and MMS, please emphasize the key reasons why it makes sense to develop energy resources on federal lands and offshore:
- A recent study concluded that new development of energy resources in the OCS and on federal lands could generate $1.7 trillion in new public revenues
- A revitalized exploration and production program could add 160,000 jobs to our nation’s damaged economy.
- Domestic production will reduce reliance on energy imports and strengthen our nation’s energy security.
Visit the Partnership for America’s Energy Security Action Center to send your letter today. It’s vital that we add our voices to the public debate at this crucial time.
Your letter will help Congress understand that we need a balanced strategy for addressing our nation’s energy needs: Renewable energy, nuclear, coal, oil, and natural gas all must be part of planning a secure energy future for our nation.
Thank you for participating in this important action.
Sincerely,
Bill Rozett
