Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Barack Obama both lied about the Federal Government would receive HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of more in taxes from ALL Americans including average working Americans at all pay levels. These Cap and Trade Taxes would amount to a 15% increase in taxes for ALL Americans.

The Treasury Department provided a report providing the information on the MASSIVE TAX INCREASE, for Cap and Trade, on March 9th 2009 to Congress and President Obama. Regardless of receipt of the report they both LIED directly to the American public about the cost of this proposal in Congress. Waxman stated that it would only cost about 40 cents per day. Obama stated that it would only cost “about the same as a postage stamp per day”.

I would think that in the middle of the worst jobs depression since the 1930s that somebody would be too embarrassed to use the “jobs Americans won’t do” line. But not inside most newspaper editorial boards.

I guess they assume that the 15 million Americans who are looking for a job and cannot find even part-time work are all like their laid-off journalist colleagues (college grads) and that all foreign workers are non-English-speaking high school dropouts who pick strawberries.

Nearly all 50 states experienced increased unemployment in the month of August, up significantly from July. According to data from the Labor Department report, 42 states plus the District of Columbia lost more jobs than they gained last month with Texas, Michigan, Georgia, and Ohio taking the biggest hits.

Sheriff Arpaio is specifically looking for evidence that ACORN financially supported a Mexican national who claims that he was abusively treated by the sheriff’s enforcement efforts. The case Melendres v. Arpaio claims that the sheriff’s office racially profiled the victim.

“I believe the organization used state and federal funds meant to help poor people to conduct a campaign against me and my officers,” said Arpaio in a statement. “These records will show, I believe, that ACORN is in bed with the anti-immigration enforcement organizations, which continue to demonstrate in front of my office trying to thwart my officers from enforcing state and federal law.”
