Today Senator Grothman (R-West Bend) asked Senate Democrats to delay the vote on their budget compromise, which was unveiled at 8:30 pm on Thursday night. Even Senate Democrats not in the privileged secret negotiating room, had no idea what these provisions were. A quick perusal indicates a complete turnover of the mediation arbitration provision to the teachers’ union position.

Despite all his self-congratulatory rhetoric that he “protected schools” in these harsh economic times, the fact is Governor Doyle didn’t lift a finger to help fund K-12 education. Instead, he foisted the responsibility completely onto property taxpayers. He even took a massive infusion of federal stimulus money that could have been used to both increase funding for schools and provide property tax relief and instead used that money to reduce the state funds going to support education.

Why is it important for us to go to this AFP Wisconsin Summit? At this meeting you will see HUNDREDS of people from all over Wisconsin who are willing to FIGHT and I mean FIGHT for freedom and, thereby, economic prosperity for each of us individually. Last year, my son Jason met me there so you can ask him as well, there were about 500 people from all over Wisconsin.

In the hallways, conference rooms and lounges were people from all walks of life, from welders and grocery baggers to business and corporate executives, who were there in defense freedom and to improve the economy and our opportunity to turn a buck, to make a living and to improve our lot in life by way of getting Government and taxation out of our way. As I walked past these Wisconsin AFP members I heard their conversations, it almost made me cry. They sounded just like Thomas Jeffersons well versed in the true meaning and considerable remuneration of freedom and its momentous beneficial impact on our economy and our individual financial opportunities.
