Under Mr. Waxman’s watch, we can expect a high priority to be placed on the kind of eco-regulations and carbon emissions caps that make businesses shudder and industries wane—without the waxing. This is especially troubling considering the significant number of individuals losing their jobs in the face of a struggling economy.

In regard to the auto bailout, comedian Jay Leno probably had the best line. He said, “Don’t you love watching congressmen lecture auto executives on how to run their business? I mean, you got people that put us a trillion dollars in debt lecturing people who put us a billion dollars in debt?” The trillion dollar figure, of course, is only a reference to the current projected federal deficit. It could get far larger.

Where in The Constitution does it give you the power to take my earnings and give it to and other worker, corporation or bank? What right do you have to do this to me or my fellow countrymen? If you are going to use the IRS to take my earnings away from me and my family to give to Auto Workers, who make far more than most Americans and have all these benefits that most Americans do not have, you can go to hell.
